i promised a post about rene’s more close relationships. umm i delayed that because i do NAWT know how to describe or explore relationships in depth. because when i do it it sounds so UGHH CLICHEEE and also BOORINNNGGG and also WHAT ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT!!!!!! so that will come in about ten years

our guiding question… who is kunado ikari??? whos icarus??!? what was the rusui no shitai?

well actually! we know who they are. hes that mopey kind of rude always tired guy at the bottom of the ocean. once upon a time a floating ray gave lanterns to a bunch of very scared people. then stuff happened. and now he has legs and there are no more people. i’m talking about his place in the world around them….. like what did enkanomiya think

me going over this guys backstory for the millionth time

first! the rusui no shitai (jp: 留守居の四諦) the name of that historical figure, the fish that did all that and turned into a guy. they kept the people from Not Dying. it is in japanese because no one remembers the original enkanomiyan name, not even ikari… sorry pal that happens with erosion

ANYWAY. it means the keeper of the four truths (thank you to rei for helping), as in the four noble truths (sanskrit: चत्वारिआर्यसत्यानि) in buddhism….

now here is a spiel about the significance of the title because i think i cooked. i’m not gonna get into them here but these r basically the first and most important of the buddha’s teachings. according to wikipedia (great source) they “represent the awakening and liberation of the Buddha, and of the potential for his followers to reach the same liberation and freedom as him”

now his name is not siddharta gautama but you can probably guess how the people of enkanomiya viewed them

the rusui no shitai is not divine, they just did a very good deed… but for a long time he was viewed as this extraordinary guy. not worshipped! but respected and followed. a fish getting blessed by istaroth? thats crazy

until. the thing with the helios and whatever…… and the rusui no shitai faded into obscurity and became just icarus!!!!!

icarus is not very extraordinary. icarus is not very wise or very strong. but icarus is a very kind person who genuinely cares for enkanomiya… even after the nobles knocked them to the side and started killing children. cuz this is how it is now.

icarus cant really do much. theyre not about to start fighting the new changes because the people who did DIED!!!! but he watches over boats as they sail around the edges of enkanomiya. scares away the vishaps that come too close. appears when he is called. sinks around the depths. watches as the sunchildren burn up in the helios

thats icarus. KIND OF SAD! boring. no one cares about that guy

THEN! when a boy sails to very edge and tells a large snake… ‘we have no real god actually. do something!’ and inazuman influence everywhere ooh la la tthanks orobashi

icarus keeps his name and wears the same clothes

i am not sure how i would describe orobashi and icarus’s relationship but its a lot of ummm ‘you dumb fish go blub blub or something’ and then ‘You lame old guy.. you were once the pride of the fire nation… dragon of the west…. ‘ and then ‘bro… you were once THAT GUY…’ and then ‘ listen to the prophecy bro… prepare. come up’

and icarus says im not feeling it tbh…. but icarus holds some respect for orobashi for stopping kids from dying and doing what he could not. hes just a bit sad because. well id be too i think

so imagine u dressing like… idk julius caesar and walking outside

ANYWAY!!!! so then watatsumi island is formed and people move up i guess. not icarus tho. AND THEN orobashi dies. and icarus is now kunado ikari because no one is left to remember enkanomiya anymore

ikari is passive and apathetic. ikari is a washed up LOSER. ikari has NOTHING to do all day. there is like basically no one in enkanomiya besides like 2 researchers every bajillion years. they sleep, mope, be mean at scholars, harvest pearls, take care of corals, float around, stare at monuments that havent been touched in forever, be passive…. AND! erosion is NOT FUN!

but i think. they ultimately still care about other ppl and whats left of enkanomiya. i said once that i think ikari is nihilistic but i do not think that is accurate now. they find meaning in things theyre just freaking down all the time. i imagine that when kokomiaethergoroukazuhakaoripaimon jump down and meet them that ikari is definitely a little offputting (and maybe even slightly rude) but helps them without being asked to

i want to add some thoughts or concepts i have for michiko but this is already VERY LONG! i hope you enjoyed this feast dom blog readers (my two friends)

let me wrap this up with the ending treat i planned

one day i decided to put on cop car by mitski and do a very dom activity (hygiene) (showering) (being the cleanest jean i can be). it reminded me of an old non-genshin oc i had named isla and the shower was very productive. if you read cop cars lyrics you might be able to guess on the parts of the oc i didnt elaborateone

see isla was this energetic funny gal. charismatic! happy-go-lucky! extremely successful. she had fun and had way too friends and everything came easily to her. she also had a gf (leslie) (they had issues it wasnt good) (shes in genshin as a lawyer now) BUT! isla was also ummmm

anyway i feel that best sums up what she was.. easily satisfied. concerned with surface level things.

this character was not pessimistic or Actively looking for destruction. she just accepted that things die and she will die and everyone will die and its all for nothing. but she also did not follow any strict ethical or moral values. she did selfish and impulsive things but was not very concerned with self preservation or really anyone elses.. she did whatever. she played baseball and was crazy good at it (among other less fun things). for self satisfaction.. idk

or at least that was how isla presented herself.idk if it was deeper or fake idk i never wrote anything anything down she was all in my head

i do not think she was like noemie visage in the way shes about prioritizing the self (or at least thats what noe says)

like if you put a gun to isla’s head and was like IM GONNA KILL YOU! she’d be like okay lol do it…. and if you gave isla a macuahuitl and told her to go kill someone ELSE she maybe do it (if she felt like it)

i was wondering if placing her in natlan would be interesting. in a nation of tribes and constant war… where would she be. where would her loyalties lie. but maybe shes too similar to another character idk
